Weapon damage

I’m new to this game, and late to it. But I had to take a break from Nine Sols due to the dang Lady Ethereal. Can somebody explain to me how weapon damage is calculated or shown in this game? In the talent tree I’ve spent a couple points to upgrade main weapon attack. But the sword I start with still shows +10 as it did previously. Is there somewhere that shows this plus value I’ve spent points on? In the talent tree on the left where it shows stats I still see main weapon as 0%. And the main weapon points, so is that regardless of whatever weapon I have in that slot? Additionally there are some points that increase scythe damage, presumably this is only for the scythe obviously. Let’s say I have the scythe slotted in the main weapon slot, am I getting additional damage then because of increase to scythe damage as well as main weapon damage?
