We built Sideverse around web novel and manhwa instead of character bots
Founder here. We built Sideverse because we wated to play with caracthers from our favourite web novels and manhwa.
Sideverse is built around characters and worlds from existing web novels, manhwa and webtoons.
Instead of just picking a character, you enter a side-story with a setting, a situation, a role for you, and characters you already know. Some stories have multiple characters too.
The idea is basically: step into a missing side chapter and see what happens when you interfere with it.
Service: https://www.sideverse.ai/
NSFW: Supported, 18+ only.
Images: No live image generation. Stories use prepared artwork and unlockable moments.
AI: DeepSeek V4 Pro for NSFW, Claude Sonnet for SFW. Routed through OpenRouter with zero-data-retention providers.
Pricing: 3 free messages without an account + 10 after signup. Then $5 ≈ 50 replies, $15 ≈ 180, $40 ≈ 540. No subscription, credits don’t expire, and they can also unlock images.
Privacy: Signed-in chats are stored so you can continue them. Anonymous chats aren’t stored by Sideverse. Conversations aren’t used for model training.
Development: We’re a 2-person team with product/design and 10+ years of software engineering experience. We use Cursor, Codex and Claude Code extensively. Releases go through linting, type checks, tests, migration validation and production builds.
Payments: PayPal handles payment processing, so we don’t store raw card details.
What makes Sideverse different for us is really the IP angle. We’re not trying to be a general character marketplace. We want to build interactive side-stories around the novels and characters people already follow.
Would be really curious to hear whether that feels more interesting than starting from a blank character chat.
