Studying for exam

Hello I am currently studying for my nail tech exam (Ab Canada ). My course was mostly self taught with only a few in class days. The more I study the more I feel my brain rotting away and I’m forgetting everything. Does anyone know if you hand file (gel) first then go in with the e file or vice versa I feel like I’ve forgotten everything at this point
