FAQs in Construction & Design
As architects, contractors, and builders, we often get asked:
- How much will my construction project cost?
- How long will the construction take?
- Will I be able to see the design before construction begins?
These are valid concerns that help guide expectations before starting a project.
Point number 1, When estimating the project cost, several complexities must be considered including the volatility of material prices, overhead expenses, and transportation costs. Keep in mind that material prices fluctuate significantly; thus, this rough estimate is based on current market rates as of May 2025. For a project with a standard finish (painted walls and tiled flooring), you can expect costs of around Php 35,000 per sqm.
Point number 2, the duration of the construction depends with the type of project itself. For example, the scope of the project is interior fit out a condo unit. This is dictated by the guidelines of the admin department which may affect the timeline of the project varying from 3 months, 4 or 5 months, and even 6 months. Another example is Ground up construction which depends on the complexity of the design ranging from 10 months to a year.
Point number 3, being able to see the design before the construction is an absolute must. This happens in the design phase of the project wherein the designer and the client works hand in hand to develop the concept up until the permit plans and for construction drawings.
