What types of books should a Data Analyst read?

Honestly? Skip the 'Learn Python in 24 Hours' books. You can Google syntax. Read the books that teach you how to think and communicate.

My top recommendations:

  1. How to Lie with Statistics by Darrell Huff. It's short, old, and will make you paranoid (in a good way). You'll never look at a chart the same way again.
  2. Storytelling with Data by Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic. Your boss doesn't care about your fancy pivot table; they care about the story the data tells. This book teaches you how to bridge that gap.
  3. The Phoenix Project by Gene Kim. If you work in tech, this novel-style book explains DevOps and IT operations. It helps you understand the chaos your data is actually coming from.

Technical skills get you the interview. These books help you keep the job.
