What's New at Cumulus — May 18, 2026
Cumulus Labs is building the most liquid GPU cloud — serverless inference that actually works. Here's what we've been shipping.
Serverless Inference, Reinvented
Most GPU clouds make you provision instances, babysit containers, and pay for idle time. Cumulus flips this. You send a request, we spin up a GPU, run your model, and tear it down. Cold starts sit at 12.5 seconds — fast enough that most workflows never notice.
The key insight: GPU allocation doesn't have to be static. By building a scheduler that treats GPUs as fungible compute units rather than dedicated machines, we can pack workloads more efficiently and pass the savings through. You pay for inference time, not idle hardware.
Why This Matters
The AI inference market is exploding, but the infrastructure hasn't kept up. Teams are either overpaying for reserved instances they don't fully utilize, or dealing with painful cold starts on existing serverless options. Cumulus sits in the middle — true serverless with cold starts low enough for production use.
For startups running inference-heavy products, this means:
- No capacity planning — Scale from 0 to thousands of requests without thinking about it
- No wasted spend — Every dollar goes to actual compute, not idle GPUs warming a rack
- No ops burden — No Docker configs, no Kubernetes manifests, no GPU driver headaches
What's Next
We're heads-down on reducing cold starts further and expanding our supported model frameworks. If you're running inference at scale and tired of managing GPU infrastructure, we'd love to talk.
