Note: This is not a gel-blaster, but a foam bullet gun (like Nerf) but looks and feels way better than any Nerf. I thought I will make a post about the pros/cons of it and also rant about GBI's packaging; but in case this violates the subreddit rules; I will remove it.

I have been shooting airgun for a while now and recently started with gelbasters with Draftpunk's Gel-blaster pistol (review of it will come later, if anyone's interested).

I wanted a AR type rifle and decided to wait for the [hobby grade gelblasters](https://www.reddit.com/r/gelsoftindia/comments/1wg0v50/big_news_for_us_we_can_potentially_get_hobby/) as mentioned by u/[averen\_fe](https://www.reddit.com/user/averen_fe/) . Instead of buying a mediocre gel-blaster, I thought I would get the best Nerf rifle for the same amount of money.

Pros:

1. Great action. The thump when each round is fired is really satisfactory. Of course the USP is case ejection, It gives great satisfaction as well.

2. Main assembly (barrel, receiver, butt stock, magazine) is of good quality but gelblaster India's pathetic packaging scratched them (more on that later).

3. Performance is satisfactory; I heard with better foam bullets this gun can reach Nerf elite territory.

4. Number of accessories (incl. but not limited to a magnifying scope, red dot). I personally use only the sights, flash-hider, grip and sling.

Cons:

1. Charging handle doesn't work. It's just for show. A wasted opportunity, especially considering the casing ejection works.

2. Accessories are of low quality, luckily the ones I need are good. Others are badly scratched by gelblasters pathetic packaging.

3. Have to pick up the bullets and the casings after firing 10 rounds.

4. Possible noise from the falling casings.

5. Only 10 foam bullets ( 5 with suction and 5 without).

6. Only 1 magazine.

Packing by Gelblasters India:

Pathetic. All the accessories are damaged. Main body is scratched.

For INR 6000, they just bubbled wrapped main body and cello taped holes in the box (box was possibly damaged when they received it from China).

They say they check every item before shipping and hence there's no warranty from GBI but then they should have applied some common sense while packaging. When they're adding a huge markup over cheap Chinese toys, they should invest in some packaging materials.

2. I have reached out to GBI. But looks like this is not their first time [shipping with bad packaging ](https://www.reddit.com/r/gelsoftindia/comments/1wg8bis/my_gel_blaster_collection_and_my_thoughts_about/#finally%20the%20last%20one:%20its%20a%20generic%20chinese%20oem%20m4%20gel%20blaster%20i%20got%20from%20gbi(gel%20blaster%20india)%20for%206.5k%20and%20its%20broken(snapped%20receiver%20and%20inner%20barrel).%20the%20reason%20its%20broken%20is%20porter's%20fault.%20they%20broke%20it%20in%20transit%20and%20refused%20to%20compensate%20so%20thats%20that).

Conclusion:

I just got the gun today morning. It's as much fun as I expected. But 6K for a toy gun is very expensive and TBH not worth it. I convinced myself that I would recover it by building and selling accessories/upgrades for such guns :P

P.S There are comments from others on the reviews of this rifle on YouTube that this it has high failure rate; likely mostly due to user error like putting the bullet wrong side in the mag or using damaged foam bullet. I still bought this, hoping I could repair/upgrade this if needed.

While we wait for hobby grade gel blasters, I got the M416 which ejects the casing of the foam bullets (initial impressions)
