Hashrate

Hashrate is the speed at which a given mining machine mines.

Mining involves finding blocks through complex computations. Blocks are like mathematical puzzles. A mining rig has to make millions of guesses per second to solve the block.

A higher hashrate is better when mining as it increases miner's opportunity of solving the puzzle, finding the block and receiving the reward.
