East java

Hi friends. I will be travelling to east java from 8th nov- 15 nov. My questions:

1. stay in surabaya or malang? Any suggestion
2. am i able to book trip when i arrive there or it should be pre-booked 3)is it okay to go backpacker style? 4)itinerary suggestions
3. transports 6)restaurant suggestions
