What are the origins of the manipuri/meitei language?
I came across a comment in this sub that mentioned manipuri was not really form the sino-tibeten language family
That got me curious so I did some digging and found this Wikipedia article
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_the_Meitei_language?wprov=sfla1
The Meitei language, also known as the Manipuri language, is classified as either a Sino-Tibetan language or a language isolate or even an Indo-European language by different scholars and institutions.
It provides accounts by various scholars on why manipuri is either a sino-tibeten language(sometimes related to kuki and Naga and sometimes not), a language isolate(no direct connection to any other languages) or even a indo-aryan language(this is a linguistic term language and genetics are different things so don't get confused)
So according to you all what is origin of the languages?
