Welcome to r/NZDStablecoins

I made this because NZ is a weird place to be if you actually try to use stablecoins.

Most of crypto assumes USD. Everything bends that way. Which kind of works, until you live here and realise how much friction that creates. FX everywhere. Accounting gets ugly. You’re constantly translating instead of just… using money.

NZD onchain shouldn’t be this hard.

So why NZD stablecoins?

Because NZD is still the unit that matters. Salaries. Rent. Invoices. Tax. None of that is USD, no matter how global crypto wants to be.

NZD stablecoins aren’t about replacing banks tomorrow. They’re more about making digital money feel a bit less disconnected from real life in NZ.

What’s out there right now:

There aren’t many options, but here’s the lay of the land as it stands.

NZDS

One of the earlier NZD stablecoins. Not much happening now, but it’s part of how we got here. Also explains some of the scepticism.

NZDD

A NZD stablecoin issued by Easycrypto a couple of years ago. Pretty low visibility so far, not sure if it’s future now that Easycrypto sold to Swiftx in Australia.

dNZD

Newer kid on the block, seems like a fresh approach and very active on socials. I get mine from Pay It Now Network, although you can also get from Metamask or Aerodrome.

None of these are perfect. If they were, this subreddit wouldn’t be necessary.

What this subreddit is for

This isn’t a marketing channel please.

It’s a place to talk about:

- NZD stablecoins, the good and the bad.

- getting money on and off chain in NZ

- tax, accounting, compliance, all the boring bits that matter

- payments, payroll, DeFi, real use cases

- what’s broken, missing, or just annoying

Lurk if you want. Post if you’ve got experience. Ask dumb questions. Most of us are still figuring this out as we go!
