How do I set up my WiFi?
I rely solely on WiFi for my internet connection. I installed OpenBSD on an old iBook G4 (hoping to refurbish it). So no network was set up on it. The install was successful, but I only have command line set up at the moment. I am using another laptop to write this.
The WiFi on the iBook G4 relies on non-free firmware (I believe it's for Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller). After the install, the iBook told me that it required two firmware files, those being bwi and radeondrm. So, as the instructions in the FAQ stated, I "manually download it to a USB drive or similar device, then use the fw_update(1) tool to enable it after OpenBSD is installed." So, I think I have all the necessary firmware installed, since I've seen no further complaints on subsequent boots.
I'm not sure how or where I should set up my nwid (the name of the WiFi connection) or my wpakey (my password).
From ifconfig, it appears that the important thing is "bwi0". Here's the current reading:
bwi0: flags=8802<BROADCAST,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
lladdr 00:11:24:2a:46:f4
index 1 priority 4 llprio 3
groups: wlan
media: IEEE802.11 autoselect
status: no network
ieee80211: nwid ""
So, if anyone can help me out, that would be appreciated.
