I built an AI content pipeline and I want to be honest about where it still falls short...
I'll be upfront: I built SwiftlySEO, but I'm not here to pitch it. I just think most AI content tool founders aren't being straight with people about what this stuff actually can and can't do, and that bothers me.
Here's how SwiftlySEO works: You put in a keyword, or a short description of what you want to cover, along with your tone and target audience. It does a live SERP analysis — looks at what's actually ranking, what the intent signal is, how the content is structured, how deep it goes. That feeds into a generated article. Before anything touches your CMS, it scores the output against your competitors — keyword usage, heading structure, semantic coverage, meta quality. If it doesn't hit 80 or above, it keeps optimising automatically until it does. Only then does it queue for your review before it publishes.
In practice, this means the content is grounded in what's working on that specific SERP right now, not just a generic long-form article about a topic. And because the threshold loop runs without you, you're not manually chasing a weak draft back and forth.
Where it can't help yet: your site is new with few backlinks - well-optimised content alone won't shortcut that. Building authority takes time regardless of how good the content is. It's something I think about a lot and there are directions I want to take the product to help with this over time, but I won't pretend the current version solves it.
One thing I am working on is scheduled content refreshing — automatically re-optimising published articles on a cadence so they don't go stale as SERPs shift. Content decay is underappreciated as a ranking problem and most tools just ignore it once something's published. That feels like the wrong approach to me, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this new idea.
While SwiftlySEO is still in its early days, a process that used to take 3-4 hours per article is now under 2 minutes, with a human review gate before anything goes live, to protect your brand and its identity.
