Lateral Sesamoidectomy Procedure
I’ve been dealing with constant medial sesamoiditis in both feet for almost a year now, off and on sesamoiditis for 8+ years. I’ve tried so many non-surgical treatments with no improvement. I’m not trying to get back to running or dancing, I’m just trying to get back to walking. I’ve had two doctors recommend surgery on my right foot as the medial Sesamoid shows arthritis in the joint and the necrosis of Sesamoid. One doctor said he always goes from the side of the foot for this Sesamoid and the other wants to go from the bottom so he can better see the joint and see if there is anything else that would be causing the pain. I’m concerned about the scar tissue being an issue in the long run. I’ve been working all year with the doctor that wants to go from the bottom so he’s been the one that knows my history better. Has anyone had issues with the scar tissue at the incision line that would deter them from avoiding the bottom of the foot if they could (I know the lateral Sesamoid has to be removed from the bottom) or is the scar a non issue for most?
