Shotcut quality has plummeted for me

This issue is probably just happening to me, but the quality has gone down, let me explain. Before today, I've almost never had Shotcut crash, or fail to bring a clip to the timeline. But today, it's laggy as all hell (worse than before), it crashes randomly, and I cannot for the life of me bring one clip down to the timeline without it freezing and sometimes outright crashing my PC. Now, my PC isn't great, the software has always used a lot of my CPU and Memory. But it's never done this, and I would say this project in particular was too large with a lot of transitions, but looking back, my last project was just as big, and I had no issues then. I even tried to split the video into two projects, but that clip still won't go to the timeline without freezing and crashing my PC. I'm considering doing a fresh re-install, and just hope that fixes it. I'm interested to see if anyone here has had their quality nosedive, and what you did to fix it. I'd highly prefer to not switch software as I really enjoy Shotcut, it's easy to learn and use, but still provides a lot of editing options.
