The man in cabin Pt 2.1
I found a journal. I don't have much more light, my campsites set up, and I have a small fire going. I search the campsites surrounding the cabin, the watering hole. Doesn't look like anyone has been here in at least a few days. A few empty water bottles I threw into my own trash bag, stagnant fire pits.
The cabin didn't even have walls. I knew the storm, the cabin burning down happened almost a decade or two ago, but for some reason I thought more than the old chimney and the laystones would be left. Grass and wildflowers over grew what remained of its walls. Didn't hear anything, nothing more than a destroyed old cabin.
Then I saw a rock, seemed to be raised higher, and cobbled when I stepped on it. It could've just been a loose rock. But I had to look underneath it.
The first half of the journal is pretty much ruin. A decade or two of sitting under just a rock wasn't enough to keep all of it safe from the elements. And too even more of my surprise, the readable parts seem to start right when that storm began. I don't have much light, so im going to take the time to take picture of all the pages I can and transcribe them over.
I cant get this feeling out of my chest now... nothing was up here but the evidence of old campers, and old cabin, and an old journal. Was I allowed to find it? Did the park rangers go with my first thought and figured it was just a unstable rock? I don't know if I'm already in whatever this is, but I have my pistol( brought it for coyotes and bears, but maybe whatever it is isn't bulletproof), and I have plenty of battery life and packs to last me. Im also scared that if I leave now, I won't actually be able. Ill get those journal pages up.
I heard him whisper that he's staying.
