[QCRIT] LOVE NOTES, romance, 81k words (3rd attempt)

Hi All, thank you so much for the feedback on my query letter. Here is the first attempt. Here is the second attempt. I've done a big rewrite, and would love your feedback on this one. Thanks!

Dear Agent Name,

I hope this note finds you well! I’m reaching out to you for representation because….

Complete at 81,000 words, LOVE NOTES follows a woman who embarks on a summer of romance while confronting Gamergate-like threats over a viral op-ed jeopardizing her small business. This spicy adult rom-com will appeal to fans of the gamification in processing emotional baggage like Passion Project by debut author London Sperry and the quirky tone of Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone.

Ellie, a passionate statistician, is trying to rebuild her life after writing an op-ed that went viral. It ended her public facing career and relationship with a lackluster boyfriend. A blind date set up by her two best friends seems like a great way to start, until Ellie receives an email demanding she present her research at a conference later that summer. The prospect of being back in the spotlight drives her to tears and ends the date with Milo, a disaster relief worker with a swoony smile. When Ellie tries to get out of the speaking engagement, the client threatens to end her contract without pay, something she can’t afford.

Ellie throws herself into preparing for the conference all while going on dates orchestrated by her two best friends in a deal to help her get her romance back. Ellie agrees to the deal not to fall in love, but to practice talking to strangers, a skill she lost in the wake of last year’s disaster, but desperately needs in order to build her client list back up. Milo returns and makes a bid to join the dating deal after he learns Ellie is the statistician whose work he’s admired for years. Throughout the summer, Milo annotates copies of her past work, winning Ellie’s trust and possibly her heart. Then, the dreaded article and life threatening response gain traction again, and this time Milo becomes a target because of his association with Ellie.

Now, Ellie must make sacrifices to keep herself safe, Milo protected from online harassment, and her research business afloat.

Thank you for considering my work.
