How I Learned to Enjoy Getting Ready
I used to treat getting ready like some annoying side quest before the actual fun part of my day started. Shower, clothes, hair, whatever... I was basically speedrunning it every time. Wake up late, throw on the first thing I saw, hope for the best, move on.
Then one random day I had extra time before going out and I wasn't rushing for once. I made coffee, played music in the background, and kinda slowed down. Weirdly enough, getting ready stopped feeling like work. I tried on different outfits, fixed my hair without acting like I was in a race, and just chilled.
I realized I wasn't enjoying the end result before, I was enjoying the little process. Sounds cheesy lol but making yourself feel put together actually does something to your mood. Even if I'm only going to grab groceries or do something boring, it kinda flips a switch in my brain.
Now getting ready is lowkey part of the event itself. I throw on a playlist, take my time, maybe stare at myself for an unnecessary amount of time in the mirror like "okayyy not bad."
Never thought I'd become that person, but here we are.
