Cream of Mushroom?

Hello, Reddit! My husband 34M and I 31F, unfortunately got into a little bit of a bad spat tonight over a minor disagreement. So my fellow redditors, I’ll leave it up to you on who is wrong or right:

Is cream of mushroom more of a baking ingredient or can it be used for soup alone?

*Side note - my husband is always adamant that he has to be right ALL OF THE TIME. He in quote said to me earlier in his exact wording, “I am just trying to teach you the right stuff so you don’t ruin the meals you make.”
I’m still pretty miffed by that comment, so please don’t judge me too harshly. Earlier today, I bought 2 cans of soup from Campbell’s brand, chicken noodle and cream of mushroom. Mind you, I was out getting the necessities for my husband who is sick with a cold. I asked him later, which of the two he would like to have and that’s when he ranted on me that cream of mushroom does not count for soup. I can admit when I’m wrong. But I’m tired of my husband’s antics of pointing out (not just mine) but other people’s misinformation on the little things, that doesn’t need to be informally corrected. Again, I apologize. I’m just ranting and upset. Please let me know in your comments.
Thank you!
