Crypto News of the Week:

Bitcoin steadies above $84,000 as historic Q3 rally nears its end

Bitcoin was trading at $84,626.50 as of 01:39 ET (05:39 GMT) on Sunday, up 0.84% for the day, according to Investing.com data. The token has gained roughly 43.5% during the third quarter, rising from about $58,500 at the start of July.

That would make the period Bitcoin's strongest Q3 since 2017, when it gained about 80%, according to data cited by crypto publication Bitcoin.com. Ether has climbed roughly 71% this quarter, putting it on course for its strongest Q3 on record.

Saylor wants banks to offer Bitcoin custody and loans backed by the cryptocurrency, arguing that existing capital requirements restrict broader participation. He specifically called for regulators to reconsider the 1,250% risk weighting applied to the riskiest category of crypto holdings under international banking standards.

Term of the Week: Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP)

A zero-knowledge proof is a way to prove you know something, without revealing what that something is. It sounds impossible, but it's real cryptography. You can prove a statement is true while giving away zero information beyond the fact that it's true.

The classic example

Imagine a website needs to check that you are over 18:

1. You have a digital credential from a trusted issuer confirming your date of birth.
2. Your device uses it to create a cryptographic proof that you are over 18.
3. The website checks the proof without seeing your date of birth or identity document.
4. It learns that you meet the age requirement, without learning your exact age.

Crypto Use Case:

Zcash uses a specific kind of ZKP called a zk-SNARK (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge). When you send a fully shielded transaction (when both the sender's and the recipient's addresses, as well as the amount, are protected), the network can check that:

• you had the coins,
• you didn’t double-spend them,
• the amounts add up,

without publicly revealing the sender’s address, recipient’s address or transfer amount.

This week has not passed without improvements either. Here are some smaller refinements that add value to the platform.

Development: Small Changes, Big Impact

\- 1-Click Full Close All Positions: Sell all your positions directly from your Portfolio with a click of a button. No need to sell one by one, you can sell everything in one go.

\- Byrrgis Remembers your Custom Layout: when you resize the left/right side panels on the Coin Detail page, that custom layout will be remembered the next time you visit the page.

\- Quick Buy Button Removed from Top Navigation: Only on mobile, quick buy you can still enable under the profile menu.

Also, do not forget: the Referral System is going live soon. Time to reach out to those friends and relatives you haven't spoken to in a while.

Beta Test: It's Time for a Live Trading & Bug Hunt event?

Beta test feedback has slowed recently. Many bugs have been fixed and improvements introduced since the beta began, but we still need your help finding what we have missed.

That is why we had an idea: how would you feel about a team-building Live Trading & Bug Hunt event in our Telegram group? This would mean daily Voice Calls with you, not only trading and testing together, but also giving you the chance to ask anything and go over the week's major events and crypto news. A relaxed conversation while the platform is being built beneath our hands.
