Where do you buy seeds on-line in the US

Hi,

I've never planted anything from seed until now. I always bought tomato and pepper plants in the spring, but lately, the selection got more limited, and the price went up. So I'm looking into planting from seed this year.

Is there a good website you can buy from? I'm looking into planting variety of tomatoes and peppers (specifically and definitely hot banana peppers), and I finally want to establish an asparagus bed.

I'm in Louisville, Kentucky, if it matters.

Thanks!

I get most of mine from MIGardener. He also has a great youtube channel full of tips for new gardeners like myself.

I buy seeds from him, too. I bought the Crimson Tomato seeds that he harvested from the plants he grew from 87 year old seeds. https://youtu.be/_UKk1tm4GrQ

Baker Creek (rareseeds.com) for open pollination and High Mowing ( https://www.highmowingseeds.com/ ) for hybrids.

I've also used Baker Creek, the seeds are quality.

High Mowing is best all-around. I’ve found Baker Creek has great variety but lower germination. I only buy from them stuff I can’t find elsewhere. Johnny’s has great quality but very pricey.

Hudson Valley Seed Company is good 👍

I really like southern exposure seeds. They focus on heirloom varieties that do well in the south east.

I use Johnny’s for hybrids and baker’s creek for heirlooms. Keene for garlic.

I use Bakers Creek and Keene as well.

I’ve purchased from Bakers Creek, Territorial, Seed Savers Exchange and Gurneys in the past. Each year I choose a company to try. This upcoming year I will purchase from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange as I’ve moved from the Midwest to the South and am in a slightly different growing zone. I’ve liked them all.

Fedco. A real employee owned cooperative. They buy and package the best seeds out there and sell them for a fair price. Getting their catalogue is one of my favorite things!

I order from Migardener, Baker Creek, and Dollar Seed (https://www.dollarseed.com). I've had great luck with all three places.

If you're into tomatoes & peppers, check out Tomato Growers Supply Company. They don't have a bunch cutesy kids in the catalog (tbf, I do like Baker Creek), and their seeds come in plain white packets....but they're legit, and have a very wide selection.

Lots of great suggestions here, but FWIW you may also be able to check a library near you to see if they have a seed program you can use a library card to use for free! I recently learned that it’s apparently fairly common now, & I’ve been jazzed about it ever since lol
