We need to retain Keisean Nixon and sign him to a new contract

Fandom

How the hell are we going to do it? For the first time in my life I’m excited for kick returns and he’s a pretty serviceable corner. I want this guy extended before he can hit the market, but I have no idea how we’re gonna be able to do it.

Pls tell me there’s hope, I absolutely love this dude

God I hope you’re right, I want us locking him in for a few years. I think he likes Green Bay from his pressers so I dont think he’s playing to get paid elsewhere

Oh yeah for sure!

If someone offers him a lot of money he'll take it. This is his job

After all these years of underperforming Special Teams my body is ready for the Pack to retain an electric kick returner

Does someone know if there is actually any issue keeping us from making him a long contract? I count on him for the next season he is like a vital part of the team now…

They could sign it right now. Either Nixon or Gute (or both) just aren’t ready yet. Nixon is increasingly valuable each week so might just be betting on himself to maximize the $.

I mean… they might have other things o their mind this and hopefully the next few weeks and just handle it during the off-season.

Well it looks like he will be the best returner in the league and we should pay him like that… it’s now or never

How are the contracts of Return Specialists? I cant imagine He would be too expensive to retain

I believe the Blue 58 podcast tackled this at some point last week. If you look at Devin Hester’s contract when he was the “greatest return man of all time” and extrapolate out his salary cap percentage compared to today’s cap it would run you roughly $4 million a year. Is Kiesean Devin Hester? Sure seems like it right now, but time will tell. Also, Kie is a solid depth piece for the defense. If you can sign him to a 2-3 year 6–14 million dollar contract (structured however Ball works his magic) I don’t see how you can’t. Look at what he has done to energize this team. And, look at what good starting field position feels like.

This team largely hasn’t even taken advantage of that starting field position and look where we are. It’s amazing to not have to start every drive from inside our own 25.

Thanks for the breakdown.

KRs never cost much money, we’ll be able to keep him. Most Hester ever got was like 6m

Right it will be like 4-6M but for our cash strapped team that’s still significant. I think he’s worth it but it’s not “cheap.”

Crosby is currently being paid $4.3m per year. If he hangs them up this off-season there's room in our special teams budget.

Oh there's definitely hope that we can retain Nixon and for a fairly affordable deal, too. I'm thinking probably around decent CB2 money, which shouldn't really affect our cap situation too much. He seems motivated to stay in GB with Bisaccia, too.

He’ll be gone if he keeps this up.
