Light at the end of the tunnel

I see the light at the end of the tunnel
as hope inducing as it is
i wonder if i’m too used to darkness
it might be life’s harness
my heart but a carcass
and the light is just to disarm us
as I get closer to it,
it illuminates the scars
dark black like her mascara
in the end will I be better for it?
my life itself, a metaphor for pain
