Twisted Trimmings

Poem

I haven’t seen ears smile

until I heard words

Slide through teeth

With more grace than pointed toes

that twists cherry stems on tongues

Tobacco and orange peels on a menu

For desire and sweetness

Of words that can cut through whiskey

Words that make sequoias feel like trimmings

And make mountains cower
