Any interesting fringe benefits of your employment that you find valuable? Any fields worth targeting because of their benefits?

Apparently bank employees can get discounted mortgage rates at some places. Anyone heard of anything else like this?

Unfortunately cybersecurity doesn't have much in the way of unique benefits. The government mostly has access to decent employee discounts, but that is all.

My J1 work phone is unnecessary and has unlimited data, so I leave the hotspot on permanently at my parents' cottage. J2 gives me some substantial tech and other allowances.

I'm actually hoping to land a J3 with an airline, cruise line, or OTA to cut the costs of my high-travel nomad lifestyle.

I've also heard it's worth getting a FAANG job or other recognizable company, since it'll mean easier/better offers for other Js

I usually have to enjoy the products the company makes so I can get some value out of a discount.

Benefits are based on company not field, based on every job I have had. So you can do cybersecurity for a bank and then got the same benefits as the bankers.

I am big on looking at benefits but only when comparing offers or jobs not to change fields or careers for them. I know a lot people that do government jobs for the retirement, but almost all of them could just get a 10% going private and put that extra money away and have a better retirement.
