DAE have a diagnosis of Bipolar 1 Disorder?

Question

As well as having C-PTSD? If so, what is your treatment like? Are there antidepressant medications that won't trigger mania? How do you manage rage and anger attacks? Lastly, what route of therapy has worked the best for managing the symptoms of both simultaneously?

So i have Bipolar 2 with psychotic features in depression rather than my mania.

I take antipsychotics along with antidepressants. Generally the rule is people with bipolar shouldn't just take antidepressants on their own because of the risk of mania.

You'd either need an antipsychotic or a mood stabliser first and then add the antidepressant if needed. First goal is to stop the mood cycling then see what you need.

This is how my psychatrist explained it to me.

Therapy wise i've had CBT/CAT/psycho-education around bipolar, mindfullness, schema therapy and now on to attachment based EMDR.

Thanks for your response. I currently take an antipsychotic and a mood stabilizer, as well as trazodone for sleep. I'm thinking of asking my doctor to just raise the traz to antidepressant effect dosing, that way I don't add another pill to the mix if not necessary. I am scared to take any antidepressants because I've never not entered mania from them. What is schema therapy?
