2016 - W ONE DIME 100th Anniversary First Strike
pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/2016-w-10c-100th-anniversary-first-strike/597224/70
First sweet coin! I’ve been thinking of adding one of these to my collection too! Not sure about android but on iOS there’s an app pcgs cert verification and I scanned the barcode it and matches
That’s weird. I have iOS and my PCGS app didn’t match it.
I also typed in the 81094051 code on the pcgs site and it matches there too
Typing in the number works for me too, just not scanning the barcode. It’s very strange, never had this happen before.
Need to be placed on a sigma metal detector at your LCS to see if true gold. If real, which it looks, pcgs error in marking
That’s going to be my next move. It does look like good to my eye also.
The photos are blurry for me.
Sorry, best I could get with my phone.
Thank you everyone! All the help is greatly appreciated!
I bought this coin recently from eBay (seller with high ratings). I did my homework, checked the serial number with PCGS, it matched fine. When I actually received the coin, I scanned it with the PCGS app, it came back as a 2016 MS70 10 yen gold. I have gone over the coin with loupe and microscope, compared with the coin on PCGS, all details match. I even checked the holder, all details match the other PCGS holders I have. So why doesn’t the barcode match? All other details look great and match. Thanks in advance!
Sometimes the app, at least in my experience, messes up with the barcode when trying to scan. My best tip is to try scanning at an angle to the holder as Sometimes it might pick up shades and call them a line or something
Scanned at an angle, came back correct! Thanks for the suggestion, makes me feel better!
Thanks, I’ll try that
Also make sure there are no scratches or any residue over the barcode. Some sellers ive worked with put labels on the slabs and it sometimes covers the barcode with sticky residue
Got it, thank you!
Definitely sounds like an error that PCGS made. You can send it into them and they will fix it or just keep it how it is.
Appreciate the advice
