Washing Baby Items

Help?

Hi! FTM at 28 weeks. I’m due April 14th. When should I start washing baby items? Also, did you wash stuff animals they received too? I don’t want to ruin them, but I feel like they should be washed too. Thanks in advance!

STM here. Wash all the clothes whenever is convenient. I use free & clear detergent for our whole household. I only wash stuffed animals as needed (faves with multiples are washed weekly and rotated, others are washed after a major illness). My daughter’s faves are jellycat brand and those do fine tossed in with her normal laundry (machine wash cold, tumble dry low). I would not wash them in a top loader with an agitator column tho.

I’ve been washing and putting away stuff as I get it for the most part, and not really worrying about washing things too early. I have been washing stuffed animals and other toys - I just put a few drops of soap in some warm water and used a towel to do a surface clean.

I work at the target distribution center and after working there, I will never not wash clothes that go on mine or my child’s body. Clothes are thrown on the shelves/floors/etc collecting dirt and who knows what before they get sent to the store being handled by multiple people. Just because it doesn’t look dirty, doesn’t mean it isn’t 😵‍💫
