We need a viking kharacter.

Misc

Anybody else think a viking would fit very well in Mortal Kombat? I think it would, in norse mythology there are different realms which can be linked to mortal kombat (if they decide to use it). Norse mythology has different types of "people" such as gods, vanir gods, elves, giants, dwarves, valkyries, and if you count einherjar. Norse mythology can be pretty bloody such as events like ragnarok, the death of ymir, battle between aesir/vanir and what the different characters of norse mythology do such as chinese water torturing loki with snakes venom (for killing baldur), freyr single handedly killing sut or surtr, and the vanir cutting of mimirs head during the truce between vanir and aesir because the vanir didnt trust the aesir to keep their word. Honestly the norse deities that id choose for mortal kombat would be: vidar (god of vengance), thor (protector of midgard), tyr (god of war), freyr (god of kingship or lords fertility peace and weather), forseti (god of justice), surtr(fire giant that destroys asgard), loki (trickster god). I could see odin being introduced as he is also the god of berserkers, poetry, the dead, of runes, and magic but there are already characters that are like him such as raiden and shinnok. There are also viking berserkers which i forgot to point out. In the future i would love to see a viking or norse based character, there is much that can be used from norse mythology/viking history into mortal kombat and there are plenty good bloody deities that can be used also.

MK12 seems like it’ll be set in an older timeline, so I feel like there will be more room for god and monster type characters

Cool idea and mythology, but not a good fit for MK.

MK is very much a fantasy world built in an eastern mythological aesthetic viewed through an American lense. All the buildings are Japanese styled, there's ninjas, emperors, Onis, Shang Tsung is Chinese styled etc.

It's used to be. Now it's just kitchen sink fantasy. Viking would be cool. Have him inspired by the movie The Northman, complete with a nude skin.

Yeah the NRS era are more kitchen sink, but I think Thor/Vikings/Asgard/Loki or anything close to it is too prominent in mainstream culture to fit in MK without feeling like a rip off of the MCU. People will be like "oh it's the MCU realm we should get Iron Man next". 🤣

I think obscure stuff like trolls or Loa might be a better fit.

I mean yeah a space Viking would be dumb. Why would they make it a space Viking? It most likely takes place in the past, so think more like The Northman than MCU. No silly horns either, just a 6'8" jacked dude with blonde dreadlocks splitting people open with axes.

Hard pass for me. Would be better in its own game, just dosent fit the MK vibe

Doesn't fit the aesthetics of the series to me. I think it would fit if they ever wrote Shao Khan's sledgehammer with a similar lore to Mjölnir or make the Shokhan either live similar to Vikings or Huns, but not in anything literal beyond that. Not really. Elements of it can work but not to its raw entirity.
