Using Credit/ Buy now pay later to buy a laptop
Hi All,
I’ve been looking at purchasing a new laptop recently and today I stumbled across one at a reasonable price on Very.
I then saw that Very are offering 20% off of first purchases using Very pay. The FAQ section in the website seems to say that as long as you pay off the amount borrowed prior to the 12 months interest free comes to pass you won’t have to pay any interest. I’m able to buy the laptop outright without having to use credit but for the sake of potentially saving 20% I’m thinking this might be worth it. My plan is to buy it on credit, then pay off the account after the laptop is delivered and I’m happy with it.
Does anyone have any experience with Very pay and can point out any T&C’s I might of missed or point out of my logic is flawed…

Yes this works. Someone I know purchased all their baby equipment this way and paid everything off straight away with no interest to take advantage of the 20% off.
I think the interest shoots up to something crazy like 39.9% after the 0% period so they likely make more than enough from people that don’t clear before the introductory offer ends to warrant this discount.
Also worth checking the T&Cs as the 20% off isn’t valid on some items, e.g. certain Apple Products and other electronics.
!thanks
No problem.
Unsure why this post has been downvoted as it’s a very sensible way to take advantage of a 20% discount if you’re strict and pay it off before the 0% period runs out.
I suspect maybe your title implies that you want to use credit for the sake of credit when this isn’t the case.
A lot of people have in-built issues with any form of credit. They believe you should pay outright for everything rather than taking debt on.
I get the logic, but that simply isn’t practical for many people. And also, without credit, the UK’s economy wouldn’t function especially well.
Agreed on this.
In some cases, such as this, you can even use it to your advantage.
