Questions about the Arts and Sciences Pathway Program from a...Potential Fall 2024 transfer admit??
EAs are out. I got rejected from my state school, UMD, but accepted into this Arts and Sciences Pathway Program for Georgia Tech. From what I understand, the "pathway" for me would be to:
-
Go to UMBC or my community college (Montgomery College) and notch the 3.3 GPA and course requirements for my major, then
-
Get a guaranteed admission as a transfer into GA Tech for Fall 2024.
Is this right? Because if so, it's an incredible opportunity, and a massive pick-me-up after getting rejected from UMD. However, I can't find any of the percentages or averages for getting into this program online, and I still have some questions. If you guys have been through this program or know people that have, could you look at my questions in the comments?

Yepperooni! Arts and Science transfer here :)
As for changing majors, you will have to complete what you applied as and speak to your advisor about it, should you chose to accept this opportunity.
did you find it difficult to transfer into the school?
Going from a local state school to tech was definitely a change of pace. But I found that while tech is significantly more difficult, there's a larger support system/resources and tech is full of people who put in the work and actually (at least a little bit) want to be here. You do miss a little bit of the freshman culture, but convocation and gt2000 did help the transition in to find clubs and social activities.
Hey! I just recieved the 2024 A/S transfer pathway offer for GT. At GT I was planning on majoring in Neuroscience with a focus on Engineering but now after more research, I realized that GT's BME program is exactly that but with better career prospects. For my freshman year I would probably be studying BME at CWRU. Even with this prior experience, would it still be basically impossible for me to request a major change from Neuroscience to BME?
The good news is with the pathway (at least according to this) you can apply for any major within the Colleges of Design, Liberal Arts, or Sciences. Simply select BME in your transfer application (Due March 1st), complete the requirements on the chart and bing bang bop you're a BME student at tech. :D
Because you missed the first year, did you find adjusting and making friends difficult? I also got the Arts and Sciences transfer pathway but I am kind of turned off by the fact that I will be a year behind everyone who attended their freshman year at GATech and the difficulties it might pose in making friends and adjusting to a new school.
I'll be your homie if you'll be mine
Honestly the biggest adjustment was the size of the campus lol. Clubs are a great way to make friends, I joined the DnD club and Ballroom dance club and that's where I made most of my friends. Also just chatting with people in class and making study groups is a great way to make friends. People don't really care that much if you were never a freshman at gt.
The nice thing about college is that since it's not year based like high school often is, no one knows anything about your academic life. I have freshman friends and fifth-year friends, love them all the same.
Hey, sorry to revive an older thread. I was wondering how housing was for you seeing as A&S offers get their decisions back in June. Also, did you transfer from a quarter school or a semester school?
Housing was ass lmao. Trust me, apply for housing the day you get your offer letter. I waited two weeks and was put on the waitlist. I ended up in a traditional double with a communal bathroom. Not the end of the world, but not ideal.
I transferred from a semester school.
Hi, I got the art and sciences transfer pathway.
Is this a guaranteed transfer for the Fall of 2024? If I apply for transfer next year after getting the requirements, etc, will I be accepted?
Yup, As long as you maintain a 3.3 or higher and complete the required classes. Before choosing a school, double check the transfer equivalency table to make sure all your credits will transfer over.
Edit: You do need to submit your transfer application before March 1st
Hi, when you fill out the transfer application, did you had to write the personal essay agin and all the extracurriculars?
Yes
How painful/easy is the transfer application? Is it similar to the common app requiring a bunch of essays?
My memory is iffy, and I can't see my old apps, but not that much harder than the normal one. I think it's a "why tech?" essay and another one. But since you're applying via a transfer pathway they already have all your things so it's less manual input of your information.
Hey you seem to know some stuff about this
I got the first gen pathway that's guaranteed too right? if it is then do they really care about the overall content of the application (such as essays and activities) or do they only care that you meet the minimum gpa and credit requirements
Hey, I'm not as familiar with this process, but it seems to be about the same (fully guaranteed, assuming all conditions are met). I'm not super sure if they look/care about essays when you make your application, but I wouldn't skip/skimp them entirely. They probably give it a cursory glance, just to make sure you're still 'Tech worthy'. :)
Yeah that makes sense you seemed to be answering a lot so I was like maybe you might know
Their website, other posts here and google say it's guaranteed as long as min gpa and credits are met so it seems like I can have an overall average application and be fine
I'll definitely still make sure to put effort in it but it's just kinda annoying having to write 2 essays again and fill out the other stuff they want lol
