HDR on certain games looks washed out and like it has a grey overlay?

So far I’ve only seen it happen on D2 and DOOM Eternal, but having HDR enabled in Windows 11 settings as well as in game yields varying results for different games. Borderlands 3 and Elden Ring for example look great with both enabled. D2 looks fine if I disable 1 of the 2 and same for DOOM eternal. Is this a game by game basis? Or is something else causing this to happen?
I notice for a second that hitting alt enter removes the “overlay” and it looks normal but then returns to what you see in the picture. I turned off night light in windows settings just in case that was it but to no avail.
Monitor is AW3423DWF
I had the DWF and yes, for Doom and D2, disabling HDR on desktop and having it enabled in-game works. Some games require HDR to be enabled on Windows before you launch the game ( Cyberpunk, Halo, Forza, Ori and Shadow of the Tomb Raider) from my tests. I think it varies from game to game. I typically launch a new game without HDR to see if I even have the option in-game. If I do, I leave it off on desktop, if I don't, I close, enable HDR and reboot. Wish there was a list.
Anxiously awaiting the fix for this. Doesn't resolve re2 remake HDR issues though.

I believe this is only required for Nvidia cards with the DWF.
Divinity Original Sin 2 has the same problem, i was wondering wth was going on thanks.
This is a known bug in the current firmware. You need to enable Console mode and tone mapping as a workaround. https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/de-de/000207382/washed-out-color-when-using-hdr-with-the-aw3423dwf-alienware-gaming-monitor?lang=en has more details.
God bless you.
Edit: it worked
