Is the PS4 port beatable? (Advice)

I'm looking to buy the PS4 port of Torment for my wife since she really loved this game back in the day but has since become more of a console gamer. I've read numerous posts complaining about the bugs in the game so that makes me hesitate on buying it.

Has anyone here actually finished the game via the PS4 port? Is it possible to beat it and have a reasonably good experience even with the bugs? I think she can handle the ocasional bug with workarounds and she has become used to saving a ton in her games but I wouldn't want to gift her this game if the console port has too many game breaking glitches/bugs.

Any advice from people who have played the port is welcome. Thanks in advance!

Yes I finished it recently. I found a couple of bugs, but nothing serious (I was actively saving). Only annoying one was something that cost me 1AC, and that didn't matter at all in the end.

That's really good to hear! Thank you.

Since you finished it, would you recommend the console port?

Also, Is there any advice I may give my wife If you can? It'd be really helpful lol

Hmmm well my first playthrough was not the most OP way, I went with a buff nameless one (the pc) with 18 strength and leveled it to 21 before I realised what was going on. I recommend going high WIS (get to 24) and then reasonably high INT and CHA. Then level your strength up a bit. In torment, your pc is insanely op.

Make sure you are familiar with the buttons that turn drive on/off and also highlighting.

Finally if something seems too hard, you're probably doing it wrong. In torment there are a few different ways to do things, and if you don't hit on one of them (or the right one(s) given your build) then the game will be super punishing.

Be careful with conversations! Your party members can (sort of) enhance through conversations.

It is really old.

Follow a guide if you get stuck! Or post.

Thank you for the details, I'll be sure to let her know. Now I can get the 2-pack with Icewind Dale for my wife! (and enjoy Icewind Dale myself! haha)

I have the 2 pack for PS4 and I think it’s great, there’s 1 noticeable bug in Icewind Dale that I found annoying (doesn’t stop you progressing or anything but means you can’t get a certain item) and there’s a few in Torment but nothing too bad really, what I‘d advise is to save frequently since it crashed on me a few times. Both are perfectly playable and beatable with all the trophies.

What is "op" or "OP"?

I'm about to finish my first playthrough on the PS4:

-The performance is surprisingly good! I had heard the worst horror stories about it, but it runs well enough and I only experienced one crash in my playthrough. Loading times are very short and even though it's no looker the graphics never seemed to run into major issues.

-The combat is not suited for console I think. I avoided it as much as possible, but it was a pain in the ass. My mage build was full of problems, ranging from the awkward design to a weird inability to lead my character out of fist fights (if there was a way I didn't find it). You have to wrestle with the system into following your commands, which sucks. Still, it's in a playable state.

-Speaking of combat, sometimes the character refused to move when targeted by too many enemies, but I'm not sure if this was a bug or a feature (me getting stunlocked and becoming defenseless maybe?). Really weird, but avoidable and with next to no penalty.

-There used to be a game breaking bug where the text got corrupted if you interacted with merchants, but it seems to have been patched after all these years (thank God!). I talked to plenty of merchants and run into no issues myself.

-I encountered one game breaking bug towards the very end where Morte's AI didn't allow me to interact with the environment. Fucking bizarre, but it fixed itself on its own. Something about reviving Morte when he was dead at the right time. Anyway, be cautious with that sort of thing, but it shouldn't happen if you're careful.

-It seems like having multiple save files makes the performance of the game run worse. Either delete old ones or reduce their use to the minimum.

With all that said, the short answer is that the game is beatable, yes.
