medication becoming less effective

Questions/Advice/Support

Hey :)

Can anyone help with their experience or advice on medication becoming less effective really quickly? I've been working my way up through elvanse starting at 10mg, now just starting 60mg.

When I started 50mg the first couple of days I thought " yes this is it, this is working" etc, then a week or two in I don't really notice the same feeling. Started 60mg today and same good feeling day one.

Any ideas? Is this an indication the dose is still not right or just the wrong meds?

Thanks :)

you always get euphoria the first day or so and it wears down. don't focus on the feeling. focus on what dose helps you manage your symptoms better. meds aren't magic, they give you momentum. you have to start a task and then it helps you continue and finish. if you just wait for the meds to make you feel ready to work, you're not using meds right, and they're not gonna help you

Hey thanks for the reply.

I think I am struggling to determine what something should feel like when I don't know what I'm looking for. I know the meds arnt a miracle cure, but where do you stop and how do you know when you have the right drug. Unless you try them all how do you know which is best.

Thanks

like i said, don't look for the feelings that meds give you. think about what adhd symptoms you have and then see if they're lessened with meds. your prescriber should help you with this. finding the right dose is called titration

For sure he is helping with each session I have with him. I guess just keep pushing on and trying different approaches till someone works well.

Thanks :)
