I finally beat Where's my dragon!

Righteous : Game

Spoilers for azata path below.

I finally beat the final fight at the end of where's my dragon, without meta-questing and killing all slavers individually ahead of time, on Core difficulty.

This took me some preparation and learning how some spells work. This is my first playthrough and while I'm generally competent at character building I'm not super familiar with pathfinder 1e so this is far from fully optimized. It goes without saying that I had many relevant buffs active at start of the fight.

What eventually saved my bacon was blade barrier. I died mostly because I couldn't keep sarzaksys off of me for long enough. He is absolutely murderous in melee and I only got Sheela up to 46 Ac or something, 52 with the holy scabbard and smite evil active, so she melted like butter. And after that all my casters went quickly as well so I usually had three or more downed party members after round three.

Blade barrier, however causes him to save and dodge backwards. This kept the amount of melee attacks from that monster to a minimum. This gave Lann time to pepper him with arrows supported by shared smite evil.

Mopping up all the other demons wasn't really that much of an issue.

So, how did the rest of you tackle this fight?

I didn't even metaquest it, I completely organically killed the flesh market first. Which was really dumb since I did it all at once.

yeah, you know, for an azata, that is not out of character.

Death Ward everyone to stop level drain spam. Kill guards Wither spamming. Pre-buff like mad just before exiting building. Kill off archer boss slaver fast. Barrage meatball boss with spells that do not allow saves. Like rays. Liberal use of stormbolt (dimention door, grater quickness rod and ascended element required).

Oh yeah, I had everyone death warded, hasted, true seeing, greater heroism, just the works. All buffs I had access to.

And still that meatball just tentacled me to death in round 2.

Dimension door I didn't think of, that would have been a good idea as well.

Rays sound fine but my spellcasters aren't very optimized so at a touch ac of over 40 on core difficulty my rays weren't landing.

Just an idea. Take Regill, choose travel domain (hellknight prestige class can chose it) and mythic feat Domain Zealot. That way you get full BAB class that dimention doors as swift action. Land on top of enemy and strike with full atack.

As for touch AC, meatball has big AC because of buffs. Dispelling him can work. Alternatively use quickness rod (any will do) to swift cast True Strike. I think it works like that. Worst case scenario, bog him down with Seelah having Last Stand and spam heal + ressurect on her.

sure, all sounds like it could work. I liked my blade barrier solution though, felt like creative use of the spell

I killed like 2 or 3 of the worst slave drivers going in fully blind. Wasn't on core though and still struggled but generally haste, mass invisibility and just straight up sacrificing Woljif to the demon spaghetti ball (he like killed him in 2 or 3 rounds). After that just used my tried and true method of hideous laughter (with best jokes) so pretty much everything got stunlocked by my Azata bard.

I had to use greater sentence for this fight cause fuck enemy concealments and the inheritor came to the rescue when things got too difficult

Concealment didn't bother me because I use communal true seeing by default.

Funny that the hand showed up though. He never did for me and i died several times.
