Immediate demotion to the youth/B/overseas team and transfer listed. No exceptions.

Overseas? We're back to sending ruffians onto ships set for Australia and forcing them to tame the outback?

I'm down.

MasterDave•

You say that but if you’re a Premier league team you can set up an affiliated team that has to take your players in the A-league.

Just ship them out, never hear from them again until they’re sold off to someone else.

83
Denny_Hayes•

Problem is players get to decide whether or not they accept being sent out to the affiliate, and in my case they often say no unless they are truly shit.

I used to have an Indian affiliate team in Kashmir that id send annoying players off to. I think one of them wound up becoming enlightened and became a good player for me though.

38
banyanoak•

Don't they have to agree to go though?

9
KneeDeepInTheDeadNational C License•

Unfortunately. Most of the time they do agree though. In my head I like to imagine they come barging into my office throwing a tantrum and then I just press a secret button where a trap door opens up underneath them and they fall into a slide that flings them straight into a cargo plane headed for India.

Arrange 10 friendlies back to back during break, play him in every single game until he collapses and sustains a serious injury, then after he recovers do it again until his joints are those of an 95 year old ex rugby player with arthritis and his tendons about as flexible as dry spaghetti.

Those promises to loan out are broken. I don’t wanna loan you out to a 2nd division team who’s only wanna pay 10% and don’t you dare getting mad about it. These promises should have a deadline the day after the current transfer deadline

172
letouriste1•

and probably playtime restrictions. Like, if the reason of loan was they want to play more then they should agree with refusing anything under regular starter

82
i0ushephf•

What I’d like to see is if I accept a loan offer from a reasonable club the promise is considered fulfilled. Promises are unusable anyways. I refuse to sign players that demand staff or squad improvements because I’ve never been able to keep them.

You’d think if we’re punching above our weight and most of my signings improve significantly I’ve done what they ask for, but the variable hunting in these games sometimes remind me of old Sierra adventure games where a spelling error or missed pixel could railroad you at any time

35
JamesCDiamond•

I’ve never had a player push back on those promises - unless they’re locked in, which I can’t recall ever seeing, you can remove them during negotiations seemingly without issue.

1
i0ushephf•

I have had several players locking improvement of coaching staff in my current fm 23 save. At first I didn’t bother but it’s becoming a nuisance

4
JamesCDiamond•

Are you in a position to sign better coaches? A big part of my first 2-3 seasons is identifying the best coaches and getting them signed - push the board to allow for more, too.

Remember that Motivation, Discipline and Man Management (I think those are the labels) are important modifiers beyond whatever the relevant stats for their role are.

You ideally want every training category to be a light workload - at a reasonably rich club that can be achieved with one specialist coach per category (one for Shot Stopping, one for Distribution and Handling, say) and a general coach covering both slots. If you can convince your board to hire even more coaches so much the better!

Dandizzleuk•

Edit the game.

All stats to 1.

Freeze his stats.

Force transfer him to your rivals/release him.

Spend multiple seasons receiving updates on his failures absolutely embroiled in your own pettiness.

I've zero patience for this arseholery. Fucking rot in my B-team till your contract runs out.

Thing is it’s not the ‘player’s’ fault per se. Just a flaw in the game that has been left untouched for years now.

6

Besides the other answers; Normally you can tell him something along the lines of "I did my best buddy, there was simply no one interested right now" and he and his agent should be happy.

I've just signed a young 17-year old wonderkid striker who's giving me shit already.

He refused to sign any contract on terms other than 'First Team Regular' despite the fact that he's currently only a 1-star ability player (with 5-star potential), but I'm managing a dominant Bayern Munich side, and my starting 11 doesn't have anyone lower than 4-star minimum.

This kid is at least 2 or 3 years away from being ready for my first team, I bought him for his future potential, but once I'd signed him, before we'd even played a game, he was already "concerned" about the amount of games he was playing, so I tried loaning him out to give him the game time he craves. (what I had planned to do with him anyway)

He turned down every offer.

Well, fuck him, then! Into the B team he goes. I've got plenty of wonderkids ahead of him in the pecking order. Let's see how he likes being completely ignored!

28
JamesCDiamond•

You signed a stroppy diva you didn’t need… and he acted like a stroppy diva when he realised you didn’t need him.

I feel for you but, equally, I do think this one was avoidable…

11

yeah, like OP told him he would be a first team regular right away knowing full well that would never happen, I really think there's blame for all sides here

I mean, not like he really knew that before hand. Let him play in the youth/B teams, loan him out, and sell him for a profit in three years. It's still not that difficult. They don't all work out.

semi related i started a new save and had a bunch of middling-never-going-to-be-worth-anything youth team players and they start complaining about needing new contracts after each other. these guys are on like 100/wk and it's like 2.1k to just buy their contract out so the second they came crying about their contract i'd just show them the door. there's ur contract bud have fun finding a team to play for.

1

same happened to me. Barkok was consistently shit, i told him numerous times to start playing better or he gone. then he started training badly as well. I put him to the tranfer list, got an offer from Salzburg to get him for 1.7 mil, but his value is 7. I rejected and he went ballistic lol. Not 2 days after i get 5 offers, all matching my valuation of 5 mil from Nice, Verona, Espanyol, Frankfurt and Las Palmas. He fucking rejects them all, and accepted the loan to buy muve to second division Celta Vigo. fucking knob

These basic rudimentary issues in Football Manager is what holds the game back. The most annoying one is when you get asked whether you’re going to sign a player that you have never once heard of in your life. It’s silly and seems so basic to fix (coming from someone who has no idea about coding or game mechanics)

1

And let me guess, the only response available is to say sorry, it won’t happen again??!!
