No, you are not making a political statement or part of some "revolution" for not tipping your server.

You don't want to tip because "they should be paying their employees a living wage"? That's fine, write your congressman, vote, start an actual revolution, but it's not the employee's fault they are stuck in a system that relies on tips to make a wage. In the meantime, tip your damn server! If you don't want to tip, go get fast food or cook it yourself.

People in the UK need to also stop pretending it's not a thing here. I'm convinced that whenever they say it's an American thing, they're showing that they don't go outside or don't dine out, or have never worked in a relevant job. Being that it's older people that do it more at restaurants, it's far from being an American thing.

I hate the double standard of tipping for restaurants and not for fast food. You ever work fast food before? Shits rough. It really shows the classism core to tipping culture and why it needs to fucking die.

Besides, employers garnish tips anyway so what's even the point? You're literally just giving them more money so you can feel morally superior. EDIT: I agree with what you're saying but from the other isle. Fuck tipping culture.

BIG TIME. I've seen fast food workers cleaning up tables where moron parents have let their progeny ruin the place - pour drinks out, smear food on tables.

When you try and tip them you better be slick about it because they get in troube for taking tips. FUCK the Ronald McDonald house, let me give this rockstar a fiver without getting her into trouble. They shouldn't be able to regulate me wanting to give someone money for doing a good job.

I don't tip. And that's because I don't live in your nightmare, 3rd world country. Not everyone who doesn't tip is doing so because "political statement" or "revolution." Some of us live in countries where we already had that revolution, a hundred years ago.

Great, OP is clearly referring to people who don't live where you do lol

No OP is refereeing to people who only live where they do.

They’re quite clearly referring to a US contingent within the US; good on you for getting involved though.

More like "Some of us live in countries where we live on wealth extracted via colonialism, imperial conquests, astroturfed protests, and predatory loaning practices."

There's a saying that goes something along the lines of "When Americans warm to universal healthcare, Chileans begin to sweat". It rings true everytime.

it's not about not tipping for table service, it's about not tipping when you go to a shop that is saying "one of those please" and they pass you one, you pay and leave. There was no hosting, no recommendations, no carrying your stuff to you, no asking if you want more, no spending time in their establishment sitting down.

should i tip a popcorn vendor at a movie theatre? should I tip the 7/11 cashier? the Walmart greeter? it's becoming onerous to tip at every payment.

I vote with my money, also I live in the UK where the tipping screen is becoming worryingly popular
