TMGL Win Rate by Who Picked the Map

Hopefully the graph is self-explanatory, but the first bar is the team's win rate among all of their own map picks and the red bar is the team's win rate among all of the maps that their opponent picked.

I was curious about the game-within-a-game that is picking maps that are good for your own team and bad for your opponent. I decided to make this graph to examine how well teams do at this task.

There seem to be a few tiers that arise here.

Firstly, BDS, Solary, and G1 all look to have about the same average win rate (G1 was much closer before they were swept by Solary). However G1 stumbles in that they end up performing better on maps that their opponents picked. On the other hand, BDS and Solary do very well regardless of whether they picked the map or not.

Secondly, Karmine Corp, Into the Breach, Alliance, and BIG all also have roughly the same average win rate for a map. The first three clearly do much better on maps they pick over maps their opponents pick, while BIG does about the same on either type of map. The first three try take advantage of maps that they are especially good on while BIG does just alright on any map.

Lastly, we have Sinners, who clearly do a good job of picking maps that suit them, but just can't stand their own against the seven other teams.

I did only for own map pick win%

*I did not include their own map pick in the calculations if they never got to play it - example being 4-0 or 4-1s, where one or two own map picks did not get played)

ITB - 57.1%

BDS - 71.4%

G1 - 52.4%

ALL - 50%

KC - 61.9%

SIN - 26.2%

SLY - 76.2%

BIG - 45.2%
