A question about the new event decks and their effect on card prices.

Hi r/magicTCG! So my friend and I are excited for the new event decks coming out (http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/1071) and we're wondering about the price changes that they will cause, specifically with the golgari deck. With such money cards such as thragtusk, vexing devil, and wolfir silverheart, will the printing and release of the event decks cause the prices of these cards to go down, as there will be more produced, or the price to go up, since people will want x4 of's for their new event decks. Thanks in advance!

You pretty much nailed it.... I remember when Thragtusk was 15 then the green M13 event deck came out and he dropped to 11, it's a 'depreciation' of a rare that's rarity waned.

Even with the inevitable value decrease, does it look like the Golgari one will pay for itself? A woodland Cemetary, a Thragtusk, a Wolfir Silverheart?

For now, yes it will.

With thragtusk at 20 and cemetery at 13, it most certainly will. Trade fast, though.

hell, buying the event deck is the cheapest way to pick up Thragtusk.

Right now the cards in the event decks in my country are as follows: Rakdos: 37 euros. Golgari : 53 euros.

Pretty good value but as you said the 'chase' rares are gonna drop until the event decks go out of stock and other people realize that they want to play them.I suppose that they will go up again after that due to high demand.
