Looked up Anhedonia and one of the descriptions was equally alarming
"If you used to enjoy playing video games every day after work, but now feel nothing when gaming, this could be a symptom of anhedonia"
...yeah or a symptom of having burned yourself the fuck out.
Burning himself out definitely sounds right.
I think we start with a health capital, when we are young it is at 100%, then, as we get older, if we indulge in addictive activities it goes down.
This guy is probably at 10% at the moment, and he needs to fill the tank again, he needs to quit the toxic stuff and get involved in health positive activities.
That's sad. He can't move on.
Yep that's what happens when you keep chasing that high you had the first time, your baseline keeps going lower and lower until you reach this point.
Sounds like depression or grief. But I suppose there are a lot of reasons for not taking pleasure in things that you used to enjoy.
shrug
What’s the quote from?
Jeez 'anhedonia' is a trendy word on reddit these days. For good reason I suppose. It's what used to be called apathy. It can happen by overloading yourself with constant pleasure, and also quitting an addiction can feel identical. I think it has a lot to do with the reason people fail so much. I like the last line of the comment. It really sucks when your stuck but your just not miserable enough to make a change.
