Torrent agents down?

Hey guys, am having problems with BitTorrent and just checking to see if it's anything to do with the great firewall. So are there any other folks here having difficulties or you reckon I just need to dive a bit deeper into the hardware? Thanks for your time.

The whole 'internet experience' has been bad for last month or so.

Torrents are much slower recently with or without VPN.

We need more information before we can say if it's due to the GFW or not.

What exactly is the problem?

Torrents simply won't connect. I've had a few seeders on mine and it seems they've lost all connections with the system as well.

Do you have a VPN?

This is what I've noticed:

The ISPs in China are now blocking the trackers, but they are not blocking torrent traffic. So just use your VPN to connect to the trackers, disconnect from the VPN, and your torrents should work just fine.

I have had to do the above with most internet connections I use.

Bittorrent's not working for me either, for the past week at least. I got so frustrated I uninstalled it. I hope it is the GFW, at least then it may be fixed after the change in leadership.

Recently downloaded a huge (47gb) file through BT, using home connection and work connection (laptop). No problems here.

I've not been able to use Bittorrent w/out a VPN for 2 yrs. With VPN it's great.

That's odd, it was fine up until last week.

I know I'm really late here, but did you ever get this problem fixed? I just ran into the same problem

I've switched to a new torrent agent called "Vuze" and haven't looked back yet. The layout sucks and takes a little to get used to, but it's been by far the quickest and most reliable.

Just incase anyone else like me searches through past posts for a similar problem, my problem turned out to be the VPN, I had been using OpenWeb only and it worked no problem but I just changed appartments (and hence ISP) and they seemed to be blocking the trackers. I've since changed it over to StealthVPN (I'm using Astrill) and it works no problem, I couldn't get OpenVPN to work though.
