Wind In September

Poem

Sly is the wind of fading summer

Stirring leaves from blissful slumber

The sudden strike of natures lance

And all the trees will hiss and dance

The wicked wind from fields of east

It carry’s scents of earth and beast

And brings a message to all in bloom

The winters fangs will bear your doom

Kicking cans without a pardon

Dragging hands upon the garden

Snaking in to possess the curtain

Flowers shake, for death is certain

I love this so much! Such vivid and lovely imagery about this transitional season of death (and rebirth) in nature. Well done!

Okay, let me start off by saying I absolutely love this poem. It flows super well and just rolls off the tongue. The rhyme scheme is simple, but more doesn't always mean more and i think you did a fantastic job on this poem. It sounds like it's about the change of the seasons and how winter is less fun than summer, in the most simple terms. Like, how winter brings the death of a beautiful summer. I could definitely be wrong, but I think it's that because of a few lines specifically.

Sly is the wind of fading summer

Stirring leaves from blissful slumber

I absolutely love these two lines, great way to start a poem. But 'fading summer' would be the change of the seasons and 'blissful slumber' would be leaves moving because of the wind, where once they were stagnant. But the last line

Flowers shake, for death is certain

Is the confusing part for me, which I love. I think they're shaking from the wind, and that their death is the change of the seasons into fall and winter where flowers wilt.

In any case, it's a beautiful poem, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. With your permission, I'd like to quote this work of art because I think a lot of these lines can be used in so many situations to offer up some amazing advice

Thank you for giving such a thoughtful response. I wanted something simple that flowed well so I’m glad you noticed that. Your interpretation of that last line is spot on by the way. And yes, you can have permission to quote any of the lines. Thanks again.
