974 days from d-day and I want to share how my life has changed

Progress

974 days ago I (34F) found out my STBXH(32M) was having an affair - I was 36 weeks pregnant with our daughter. After the affair, I struggled to raise our daughter entirely alone, in a foreign country (I moved overseas to be with him), with very little financial support from him and no family around.

I won’t go in to details here but it was one of the hardest things I’d ever done in my life. Bouncing from place to place, nearly homeless many times, barely being able to afford food or nappies, while he galavanted around with his mistress - not a care in the world.

September 2022 I moved back to the States with my daughter. I have a job making pretty good money, an apartment on the beach, my daughter is just about to start in a private preschool, I go dancing, I have a support system around me, and I am THRIVING AND HAPPILY SINGLE. I am proud of everything I have built for myself. It’s challenging to be a single parent still but I’m happy, I’m proud of myself, and most importantly I feel that I’m finally healed as much as I can.

I used to wish my ex to Hell but now I’ve seen his life fall apart (and it really has in the last 2.5 years, in spectacular fashion) I’ve found no joy in it. I feel pity, perhaps.

More than anything though, I’m glad my daughter and I got away from him. Our lives now are so full, so bright, and I can see now with the benefit of hindsight that we’d have drown with him. There were a lot more issues with that man than just infidelity. We escaped him and that life. All those tears I cried, all that heartache… for what? Thank god, THANK GOD, we got away.

Time does heal. There is a life worth living beyond this. The grass IS greener on the other side. It can be. Just turn away and don’t look back. Go through that shit with determination to live the best life you can and let that serve as your revenge if revenge is what you seek.

I wish you all healing.

Yessssss! YaY! Go queen! This sounds like my story except in the states. He didnt have a mistress at that time (I don't think but who knows at this point).. I wasn't pregnant, but I did have a 3.5 yr old. I moved in with shitty people. Just about as bad as him, a family of shit ppl. Users. They kicked me out (thankfully,a blessing in disguise). They accused me of being on drugs, had a relapse (not with my daughter around tho, she was at my mom's) THEN the good shit happened... I moved in with my mom and got a job, got off SSI, got my driver's license back, got my daughter into martial arts classes (so a payment every month lol), I have a great support system.. I'm living my best life. My ex was literally dragging us down with him every chance he got. Oh also I'm about to get me a car! Like wow! I'm literally living my best life 💪 I'm a very proud single mama. I've had 2 bfs, I tried. But they were bad guys disguised as good guys. Covert narcs. 🙄 Now I'm just doing me. I don't need someone to make me miserable. I want to be happy and not just settle. People have to really want to change. That's the only way it works.

I love reading these stories! Good job queen 👏👏👏 you're doing an awesome and amazing job 💪👏 🥳

The reason you have pity: you are a kind and empathetic person who doesn’t want ill to the father of your daughter. Truly sad what he threw away, I’ll never understand it. Congratulations on doing well and best wishes for both of you and daughter’s future.
