pc keeps shutting down randomly after installing new graphics driver

Tech Support

My pc has started shutting down completely randomly even when no apps are open. The weird thing is that even though it "shuts down" the lights are still on and the cpu fan is still spinning. This didn't happen before I upgraded my Nvidia drivers, although even when I rolled back to a previous version the crashes still happen. I've tried everything from following youtube tutorials to reapplying thermal paste and I have no idea what to do anymore. any help would be greatly appreciated. Below there is a list of my computer parts for anyone interested.

So the monitor is turning off. Try this:

In the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Change resolution. At the bottom, select "Use default color settings". Click "Apply".

I had a similar problem where my monitor was turning off, and this was the solution.

I've had this happen to me many times as well, for months. Recently I saw another post that suggested disabling Away mode, which is apparently a separate kind of sleep that was introduced in Windows 10/11. It does what you explained, display off, fans running, and the computer doesn't wake by pressing keys, etc.

Here's how to enable the away mode settings to show in the power plans you have: https://blag.nullteilerfrei.de/2019/03/05/stop-entering-away-mode/

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/108441-add-remove-allow-away-mode-policy-power-options-windows.html

Since I disabled this feature the only thing that still happens to me is random restarts when the PC is idling.
