Dad

Message Into the Void

I turned 30 almost an hour ago, and just an hour and a half ago I left you in the hospital with the morphine driver in, I hope you liked the songs I played for you through your headphones. I hope over the coming years you will be able to hear all the things I couldn't find words for and I hope you find the peace and love you need and always deserved.

Despite the problems we had that you could never understand that's OK, you did the best you could and I'm glad you could hear and feel that I loved you before the end. I'm glad I could hear you tell me you loved me and always have. Go to peace Dad, I love you.

Your Dad will surely find a happy place up there, don't be sad on your special day, he wouldn't like to see you crying

This is so poignantly touching and so heartbreaking. It sounds like you’ve wholly forgiven him for his mistakes and that is such a gift to both of you. You sent him off with pure love.

“Go to peace”—that’s so beautiful.

Never think of this as the worst day of the year because you lost your dad on your birthday. Be happy that he lived to your 30th birthday and you got to spend it with him, wether he was fully there or not. Celebrate the time you had with him until the last moment.

Happy birthday. You are so loved. You did an amazing thing being there for your father at the end. That's the hardest thing to face.

"Love is watching someone die" - death can for cutie

It's okay to be hurt. The scar will remain but you WILL be okay, I promise you.

They absolutely do hear us. As my dad was laying in the hospice passing away, I kissed his forehead and read him the Bible because he was a Christian even though I’m not. I also told my mom that she was the best mom and grandma to my son and I know she heard me although she couldn’t respond. It doesn’t ever hurt less but it gets easier to bear with time. I’m here if you ever need to talk. Allow yourself the time to grieve however that may come. Hugs.

Thank you anyone who read this or left a comment, it's been a big source of comfort for me and for my mum when I let her know how strangers all over the world have sent their love and kindness, love to you all <3
