Running tubeless on my 4 ST

Cowboy 4 ST

Hello everyone! Last week I had an inner tube puncture. The roads are both often lousy with metallic debris and pothol-y where I am. I decided I am done with tubes. It's time to see if I can run tubeless. I was not able to find good reference material on anyone doing this on a Cowboy, so I thought I might share.

I used:

  • 30mm Muc-Off tubeless rim tape
  • Panaracer Gravelking 27.5x1.5 (38-584) tire
  • Generic five-way tubeless valve
  • Orange seal enduro
  • Pancake compressor

The setup was pretty standard as tubeless went. Twice around on the tape, puncture with a screwdriver, install valve, seat with air pressure, add 2 fluid ounces (60 ml) of sealant and inflate. It leaked a bit at first, so I rotated it around a few times and added more air. It held pressure overnight, so I took it on a 20 mile ride and it's still holding the day after that.

It doesn't look quite as nice as the stock all-black tires, but there's a much friendlier level of clearance between tire and mudguard. I hope this is helpful!

Nice, I was thinking to do that! Great to know someone succeeded!

They will void your guarantee but who cares 😄

I don't really expect anything other than software support from Cowboy, so that doesn't bother me.
