Series isn't over but remember that we're playing with house money at this point

Our team is hot ass right now. We can't even make open shots but please remember that we've exceeded expectations this season. Many thought we'll be a below 500 team. Look where we are now? At this point, every Playoff game is charged to experience to our young guys. Playoffs basketball is just really different. In the regular season, only the top players like Julius and Brunson are being scouted. Now, every guy in the rotation from 1 to 9 is being scrutinised for any possible weakness. If our guys can play like they did in the regular season then this isn't over. Otherwise, we lose and we learn and we come back stronger next year. Let's fucking go Knicks

Really don't want to hear about house money. Knicks future doesn't look bad but things can change fast. The Heat are an 8 seed, they aren't talking that way. They are overachieving with a bunch of undrafted and washed up players.

cesarjulius•

i mean, they're really more of a 7 seed, who lost in the conference finals in 7 games just last year. if anyone overachieved this season, it's us.

I get that we weren't looked at as a playoff team, let alone a second round team. I'm glad to be watching Knicks basketball in May. I just also think we are a better team than the Heat (especially without Tyler hero) and could win this series. "House money" makes it sound like we are frauds that got a 5 seed. Maybe two years ago, as the 4 seed we were frauds but not now.

cesarjulius•

i definitely thought we were a better team than the heat without herro and oladipo coming into the series. now not so much, but i don't think we'll go out in 5.

"house money" means we achieved our goal coming into the season, and anything beyond that is gravy. obviously the goal is an nba championship, and to win every individual game, but honestly, would you have taken "getting eliminated in round two" coming into the season?

manfromfuture:Mason3: Anthony Mason•

Damn, don't even think we can muscle one more win? If you told me that the Nets hit the self destruct button up and the Knicks get the 5 seed and get to the second round I'd have taken it. But we're here now. We got skunked yesterday and are banged up, but we are down 2-1. Crazier things have happened.

Don’t forget Miami isn’t really an 8th seed either. They were only a couple games behind the nets for 6th and just barely missed the spot.

I think people forget that while the heat got it with the injury bug this year. They were the number 1 seed in 2022. Definitely not your typical 8 seed.

Not buying that "house money" stuff. They are one win away from tying the series up or one loss from going down 3-1 to a supposedly lesser team. And yes, these are the playoffs which are different than the regular season, everyone knows that.

I am past the point of nerves.

I would love to play the Celtics, but I've enjoyed this ride.

I love this team and we'll see what happens in Game 4.

Where’s the guarantee they come back stronger next year. Guys are banged up but they have every rotation player healthy enough to at least play rn.

Fuck that house money bullshit. That’s such a defeatist mentality. Tomorrow is promised to nobody, play every playoff game as if you’ll never be back. It’s the same nonsense people were spewing about the 2017 baby bombers with Cashman famously saying we’re trying to win championships, plural. How has that worked out???

CTDubs0001•

Two things can be true.

  1. they have definitely overachieved and if we lose out in this second round playoff series we can look at this season and still hold our head relatively high.

  2. they are playing absolutely awful right now and we could beat this team. If we lose this series, we’re losing because we’ve just hit a bad patch at the wrong time and we’re playing horribly right now. Not necessarily because the Heat are better. We’re beating ourselves right now. But I guess good teams make other teams play bad.

Bullshit, we're losing to the heat without arguably their second best player and Oladipo.

Unfortunately, if they have both of those guys we'd likely be getting swept the way we've been playing. That's not okay lol.

cesarjulius•

is someone out here arguing that herro is better than bam?

2
nofapbbby:Randle1: Julius Randle•

Bam is an offensive liability meanwhile Herro is a great shooter.

However, Herro must be sweating considering the bench players are shooting great for the heat.

2
JacesAces•

Huh?? Bam averages >20ppg wtf you talking about liability?

The Heat fans have been complaining about him post all star break. Only recently have they embraced him

I'm glad everyone is brushing off this house money shit. We're here to win, not get a participation trophy. Nothing is guaranteed in the NBA. You could be really good one year and fall off a cliff the next. We're definitely in a great position to improve going forward but I'm not in the business of moral victories.

ben1204:KnicksA1:•

I don't agree with this thinking. Yes we've done better than expected but when you have a chance for a deep playoff run you gotta take it. As we've seen with the Suns, it's really hard to get back to where you were.

i_am_the_senate_•

On paper we should beat the Heat, but they have playoff experience, a great coach, and the best player in the series, while we are young with little playoff experience. Those things matter a ton and this years playoffs specifically have shown that you can throw seeding out the window in this era of the nba. The Knicks are young, have the assets to improve in the offseason, and maybe most importantly have made ourselves a desirable destination for free agents. I trust Leon Rose to get us where we want to go within 5 years. Perhaps it’ll be this year! Series ain’t over

In a month I'll be over the moon about this season regardless of the outcome. In the meantime I'd like to see my team compete. They didn't yesterday.

1
okgusto:Breen: Mike Breen•

Im glad we overachieved this season and can appreciate but I'll be tight if they don't win at least one more and make the next couple game competitive. If we lose a tight game in 7 games that's respectable. 2 more games like yesterday would just be sad.

Past-Chest-6507:Knicks2: 70s Logo•

Nah, fuck that.

We have HOME COURT ADV in the 2nd round and we have the deeper roster.

Add in that Philly's best player is banged up, and we match up GREAT against Boston... mannnn, why not dream about tha Finals!?!?!

We need Randle's ass to wake the fuck up and we should be good.

I don’t think you know what house money means

Knicks in 6 brother.

This is not House Money. The Knicks are more talented, had a better regular season record, beat them 3 out of 4 times, and were favored to start the series. They should get past them but are now unlikely to. Losing to Boston or Philly is one thing but losing to Miami is a whole lot less acceptable. It doesn't change that the Knicks had a good season but it'll show they didn't make it as far as they should have.

1
vette322:earl: Earl Monroe•

House money? How? Knicks beat the Heat 3 out of 4 this year, earned home court advantage, and the Heat are missing Herro.

Throwing out a ‘house money’ post only means you are already rationalizing a series loss. Let’s see who gets to 4 wins for first.

Series is done they better learn for next year.
