Church hoarding money

General Discussion

One of the things I’ve heard many Mormons say is that while they do have that much money, they are the first to respond in times of crisis, the service they do makes up for it, and they help families who are financially struggling. As someone who has been helped by the church when the bishop ordered furniture and food for me and my fam when going through a divorce and in certain crisis, I can say for certain that the amount they helped me doesn’t hold a candle to the amount they took from me.

So as far as the church helping individual families i have see the church help, yes, they help them, but at a huge cost Imo. I know friends who have also had help from the church, but they were still required to pay tithing and go to church for a few months before the bishop would give their fam food. It seems very abusive. On top of that, they all became sick when eating the food from the bishops storehouse. And another family Ik were fat shamed when they asked for food.

I’m not trying to sound ungrateful for their help, but they were the ones that got me into a bad situation in the first place. Putting sooo much time into lesson plans, cleaning the church, when I could have been spending that time working, or caring better for my fam. It’s also so weird how they want us to have tons of kids but then want you to spend all your time on church things so that you barely see your kids. And then with the all the teachings that a Mothers place is in the home etc. that really screwed me over. Plus all the tithing I paid when I couldn’t afford it. Plus a mission that I paid for. So when Mormons starts talking about that, that’s just what I have in my mind. They don’t really help families. They put families to work for them, so the families can’t spend enough time on their own self care, and give them a little food when they become desperate.

Like I gave my life to the church, a few pieces of furniture and some food, while greatly needed at that time, doesn’t make up for the years of service and trauma, and the years of being brainwashed to not be self sufficient. That my worth is having babies, cooking and cleaning, and serving a husband who was awful and mean couldn’t care less about me. All that was what was normalized in the church. All of that was a massive massive cost.

I cannot necessarily say how much the church has offered service in other ways. That last point is the only experience I have. And I I have come to the conclusion that they are hoarding money and definitely not helping families in need.

What about how they say they are the first to show up in crisis and serve community and things though? Is this true? Does anybody know?
