Im finding i earn more overall when I’m not stressed about needing to make a certain amount and I can just flow with a schedule. Or I have time goals.

But also because of life, sometimes it’s necessary to set a money goal and I get a bit of anxiety about oh what if I don’t reach this and things and then getting on cam gets delayed because I’m worried. Or I self sabotage in some small ways. Sigh. But also I remember I make more here than any other job I’ve done, so… yeah.

Do you set earnings/amount/money goals usually? If so, does it help to make that goal super realistic? Or how do have ways to calm any stress around it? Maybe knowing you have more savings or anything so you’ll be okay?

I choose me

General Discussion

I absolutely became better at giving service in the way people needed it when I chose myself. I became a better mom when I chose myself. The overemphasis on self sacrifice made me physically ill and exhausted, weak, emotionally burnt out. Because I was completely giving myself away to my ex husband and the church.

I understand this idea of sacrifice, but it goes way overboard with Mormonism, and they talk about it in such a beautiful sweet gentle way that you think it’s the right thing. But it’s not. I might loose some people here if you see new age spirituality stuff as just as woo woo and magical thinking like mormonism.

But the “I choose me” mentality and the oneness flow and presence

So I really need to learn to save better. I’ve had some car expenses that have come up recently. And I had previously had this mindset. Oh, I can get online anytime almost and earn money, no biggie…. Until these expenses happened and now I’m like uh oh. But also when I am stressed and particularly stressed about money. I mean it’s good for me to think about money just a little in the sense that oh I’ll only do such and such of you take me private first or wherev, but it’s so much harder for me to stay entertaining for cam if I get like… this stressed about it.

It’s almost like I have to pretend for a minute that I’m just gonna try like a cammathon or something, because that’s kinda where I

Church hoarding money

General Discussion

One of the things I’ve heard many Mormons say is that while they do have that much money, they are the first to respond in times of crisis, the service they do makes up for it, and they help families who are financially struggling. As someone who has been helped by the church when the bishop ordered furniture and food for me and my fam when going through a divorce and in certain crisis, I can say for certain that the amount they helped me doesn’t hold a candle to the amount they took from me.

So as far as the church helping individual families i have see the church help, yes, they help them, but at a huge cost Imo. I know friends who have also had help from the church, but they were still

I have never heard of religious belief systems or spiritual beliefs attacked from people outside of the church, but in the church I hear it all the time. They tell all these stories of how the the pioneers were driven out of their homes. Like seriously. I have been yelled at and threatened for doing yoga, meditation, listening to Tibetan bowls. They’ve aggressively yelled at me and threw out my bai tea and crystals. I have been displaced and kicked out of my home for taking my garments off, while still fully believing at the time, but I tried all the materials which caused me skin and health problems.

They wanna hear about all the craziness converts went through to join the church? Well wh

I’ve been in and out of therapy for years and I am kinda in a spot where I feel like I need therapy the most but can least afford it. My background is I have ptsd, anxiety and also I have a lot of religious trauma. I have been to LDS therapists before, 2 in fact have brought religion into the therapy session, both sharing conference quotes with me. One of them when I was lds and one when I was out and both of them pushing actually the church’s narrative that everything will be ok by reading praying going to church etc.. with the one therapist giving me advice after I was out to try doing service projects which absolutely made no sense for my situation as I had no means to have others watch m

How to be social

Advice/Help

Ok. So sometimes I want to be kind of social. But everyone I know are church members and I’ve been avoiding church for mental health reasons and religious trauma. Im a single mom. Live in Utah. And if I weren’t a mom I can think of tons of things I could participate in that are not Mormon centered, but since I am a mom and where I’m always with my kids, and I don’t know anyone outside of the church and am totally surrounded by only church members. How can I meet people? Also every time that I go even to a park with the kids, church comes up. And ppl wanting to share the gospel. It’s like the only thing anyone can talk about. Any suggestions for me?

I was very very tbm. Totally lived the gospel and was at church all the time growing up. Served a mission, married in the temple and was essentially that picture of 1950s housewife only without money or resources and who move a lot to support husband in work. I think 11ish moves in 6 yrs.

Im divorced and my kids of course like primary and nursery bc there are other kids they play games sing songs and it’s fun. But at what age and what times is it appropriate, or is it even appropriate to tell them that certain things in the church are wrong. So like with baptism for example, I think it is extremely damaging to teach a 7 year old child that at the age of 8 is when they reach the age of acco

I’m sitting at my daughter’s primary program practice for in my ex’s ward. It’s so weird being here. I’ve been working through religious trauma, divorce and learning that making money isn’t just for men. That now I need to provide for these little ones. It was the church that determined the values I followed my whole life, which values messed up my life in some pretty serious ways. I tell you I followed every commandment and admonition to a t. Perfectly my entire life. It landed me in a marriage with a very misogynistic guy, and later while in therapy, I learned he was very narcissistic as well. Mostly verbally abusive, but abusive in other ways too. Just sitting here in the chapel is bringi

Martyr

General Discussion

“A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.” -Oscar Wilde

I heard this quote today and with everything that ha opened with Joseph Smith it have me I guess a bit of closure, or explanation. I was incredibly indoctinated, went to so many chirch historyador sights multiple times, got so emotional at the stories of the prophet being such a martyr, but it wasn’t true. And that’s it. He was a con man.

I feel like everyday I get on here and I see extremely hurtful things that members will say trying to be helpful. Mostly i see comments about when a person dies they’re now a missionary on the other side and imo that’s a pretty awful thing to say. There are so many things like that that I see everyday. One I just saw was that Hesvenly Father could be withholding blessings. Ugh these things are awful. Someone needs to compile a list of hurtful things said by members who are trying to be helpful? But actually being mean And making things worse. We could start with conference talks im sure.

Shut down at swear words

General Discussion

I don’t know if anyone else notices this and maybe it’s just the tbm’s i know, but i feel like if any swear word is said at all, then the tbm puts all the attention on that one word, or if someone says “god,” it’s like they shut down and can’t register the rest of the message.

Like they’re fixated on the swear word instead of actual communication. Or listening to whatever the person who is swearing is trying to say. I also don’t know if I’m explaining this very well. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
