Just so I’m clear, everyone is using the Alt-F4 truck, right?
I’ve been playing this game since Christmas. It’s great. But I found the freelancer mode difficult and frustrating. One day I had to go out and I put the PlayStation to sleep, when I came back I found that my son had restarted it and when I loaded Hitman I found I was able to restart the level I was on. I then started to restart the PlayStation every time I messed up. This evolved to me just closing the game and opening it again.
I thought I was a genius who had found a secret way of “cheating” but it turns out this is a thing that people do and they call it Alt-F4ing. Ok got that, but here is my question, is anyone not doing this? Because damn this game is hard, and the smallest mistake can have brutal effects. Sometimes I think I’m cheating, but then I rationalise it by saying to myself that it’s ok because everyone does it.
Am I in the minority here? Or is everyone doing this?

I think the consensus for most people is that it's ok to use it in the cases of glitches ruining the experience. As for feeling you're cheating, do you feel like you are? If so, you are. If not, you're not. It's a singleplayer game, so however you want to play it is the right way.
The old saying of 'the only person you're cheating is yourself' very much applies here. I, for one, completed my first campaign with literal cheats. Infinite ammo, invincibility, that stuff. That's because I like the sandbox-y parts of hitman the best, and it was a way for me to test the waters with freelancer a bit. I was in the beta tests so I did have a 'true' freelancer experience beforehand, so I wasn't completely tarnishing my experience of freelancer.
The point I'm trying to get to with all of that is that different people play differently. Some people like the punishing nature, some people want a more stress-free time. You sound like one of the latter, not wanting to lose hours of progress with a small mistake. And that's ok!! It's your game, you're the only one you'll be cheating and if you're ok with it that's fine. I would recommend trying the 'true' freelancer experience at some point, alt+f4 free, if you haven't already. Just as a way to see what it's like. And then if you're not having fun with that, at least you know for sure now
